This month at Ria Maria's Girl Gang Collective, our girls took a step forward about facing one of the biggest issues of the generation by #BreakingTheSilence and sharing their personal stories through writing, 📝 music 🎶 and illustration 🎨
As a community of young girls, we decided to be here to break the silence and shed light on one of the biggest issues that this generation encounters.
Most people believe that mental disorders are rare and "happen to someone else" when in fact mental disorders are common and widespread and we may not know for sure which one of our friends, family or loved ones are going through it.
It's important to check for symptoms whenever you think somebody is going through various mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, PTSD etc. and if someone reaches out to you, the best thing you can do is to listen.
Remember that being a compassionate listener is much more important than giving advice. You dont have to try to "fix" the person, you just have to be a good listener.
Often, the simple act of talking to someone face to face can be an enormous help.
On our very first episode for the Girl Gang Collective vlog, Gaelle Dagher tells us her own experience with depression and social anxiety and how she was able to recover from it with courage and through music. Watch the full episode on @riamariacrush on #Youtube and #IGTV 🌹
